Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban have reaffirmed their commitment to a ceasefire after new negotiations in Istanbul, Türkiye confirmed on Thursday.
A joint statement said both sides will finalize implementation measures in another high-level meeting on November 6, 2025. The discussions, held from October 25 to 30 with mediation from Türkiye and Qatar, aimed to reinforce the earlier ceasefire agreement reached in Doha on October 18–19.
The parties also agreed on establishing a monitoring and verification system to maintain peace and enforce penalties for violations.
Türkiye and Qatar praised both sides for their constructive approach and reiterated their support for long-term regional stability. The initial ceasefire was signed in Doha by Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Afghan Defence Minister Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid.
