A massive fire broke out at a tyre warehouse in Karachi’s industrial area, sending thick plumes of smoke across the city. The blaze quickly spread through the facility, fueled by the flammable rubber material stored inside.
Firefighters rushed to the scene with multiple fire tenders and struggled for hours to contain the inferno. Authorities described the fire as “intense,” with flames visible from several kilometers away, causing panic among nearby residents.
Police cordoned off the area to prevent onlookers from approaching the site, while rescue teams evacuated workers from adjacent buildings. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far, though several workers suffered minor injuries.
Officials said the fire likely started due to an electrical short circuit, but an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause. The Karachi Fire Department also faced challenges due to limited water supply and strong winds.
Residents reported hearing loud explosions as tyres burst in the heat, worsening the situation for firefighters on the ground. Traffic around the industrial zone was diverted to ensure smooth emergency operations.
Authorities confirmed that cooling efforts are still ongoing and that safety measures will be reviewed to prevent similar incidents in the future. Property damage is estimated to be in the millions of rupees.
