India’s experienced opener Rohit Sharma has dethroned skipper Shubman Gill to secure the No. 1 position in the ICC ODI batting rankings.
As per the latest update on Wednesday, Rohit jumped two places to become the world’s top-ranked ODI batter, surpassing Gill in the process.
His rise comes after a brilliant series-winning performance in the third ODI against Australia in Sydney, where he smashed an unbeaten century to guide India to a commanding nine-wicket triumph. Across the three-match series, the star batter accumulated 202 runs.
This is the first time in his career that Rohit has claimed the top ODI batting spot. At 38 years and 182 days old, he is now the oldest cricketer to achieve the No. 1 ODI ranking in ICC history.
