Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan has reportedly declined to sign the latest central contract offered by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). While the PCB has finalized agreements with the rest of the national squad, Rizwan has withheld his signature, citing concerns that he wants addressed before committing to the deal.

As per media reports, Rizwan has raised multiple questions and reservations regarding the contract, and he is seeking clearer explanations from the PCB on several clauses. He has also put forward a list of demands that he expects the board to consider before he agrees to the terms. However, the PCB has not agreed to his conditions, and sources indicate that the board is unlikely to entertain them at this stage.

Rizwan is currently slotted in Category B for the 2024–25 central contract cycle, which the PCB unveiled a day earlier for 30 national players across various formats. His reluctance to sign has created a noticeable contrast, given that all other players have already endorsed their respective contracts without dispute.

The development comes at a time when Rizwan’s role in the national team has been under scrutiny. Recently, he was removed from the position of ODI captain and was not included in the T20 squad, marking a significant shift in his standing within Pakistan cricket. His decision to hold off on signing the central contract suggests deeper issues and signals that he is not fully satisfied with the PCB’s current approach or terms related to his future with the national side.
