Pakistan has partially closed its airspace amid rising security concerns linked to tensions with India, officials confirmed on Monday. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced temporary flight restrictions for several northern and eastern routes, affecting both domestic and international air traffic.
According to initial reports, the move came after intelligence assessments indicated potential regional instability and heightened military readiness across the border. Flights heading toward Indian airspace or passing through certain sectors were rerouted, causing minor delays at major airports including Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi.
Aviation officials clarified that the measure is precautionary and will remain in place until the situation stabilizes. “Passenger safety is our top priority, and we’re coordinating closely with regional air traffic control centers,” a CAA spokesperson said.
The development comes amid renewed diplomatic strain between Pakistan and India, following recent border skirmishes and increased military surveillance activity. Airlines have advised passengers to check flight schedules and expect possible delays.
