Tremors from an earthquake were felt across several parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, causing panic among residents. People rushed out of homes and offices as buildings swayed for several seconds.
According to early reports, the earthquake’s magnitude was moderate to strong, though the exact reading and epicenter are yet to be confirmed by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). Cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and Mardan reported noticeable shaking.
No immediate reports of casualties or major damage have been received so far. Authorities said rescue and emergency teams are on alert to respond to any situation.
Experts say Pakistan lies in an active seismic zone, and such tremors are not uncommon. They have urged citizens to stay calm but take safety precautions in case of aftershocks.
The PMD and disaster management authorities are expected to release detailed information once the full data is analyzed.
