85-Year-Old Woman Robbed and Murdered in Punjab

An 85-year-old woman was reportedly murdered and robbed of gold jewelry worth Rs. 1.2 million in Chandala village, Punjab, within the Daulat Nagar police jurisdiction.

According to the FIR, complainant Falak Sher, a furniture shop owner near Lalamusa, stated that his elderly parents lived in a separate house next to his own. On October 5, his brother Amjad found their mother, Shah Begum, dead in the bathroom with neck bruises. The family initially assumed she had slipped and suffered a fatal head injury, and she was buried in the local graveyard.

However, on October 11, the family discovered four tolas of gold jewelry missing. A resident later told them that a man named Shahzaib alias Shebbi, who lived nearby, was seen leaving the victim’s home shortly before her death.

Falak Sher alleged that the suspect strangled his mother and stole her jewelry. Police have filed a case under Sections 302 (murder) and 386 (extortion) of the Pakistan Penal Code and begun investigating. Authorities said the body may be exhumed for autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
