The military wing of Hamas has released the first group of seven hostages out of the 20 survivors held in Gaza, marking an initial step in the ongoing ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel.

According to reports, the hostages were handed over to the Red Cross and safely transported to the Re’im reception center near the Gaza border, where they were reunited with their families after more than two years of captivity.

The release comes as part of a broader peace and prisoner exchange deal, under which Israel is expected to free over 1,900 Palestinian detainees. Officials described the move as a “confidence-building step” aimed at maintaining the fragile truce and preventing further escalation.

Tensions, however, remain high as both sides continue to accuse each other of violating previous agreements. Humanitarian organizations have welcomed the release, urging both parties to commit fully to the peace process and ensure the safe return of all remaining hostages.

The ceasefire is being seen as a critical moment for stability in the Middle East, with international leaders calling it a “ray of hope” for millions affected by the prolonged Gaza conflict.
