A hotel in Hyderabad has been fined Rs. 500,000 by the Sindh Food Authority (SFA) for serious violations of food safety regulations.

During a surprise inspection, the SFA team found expired and fungus-infested food in the kitchen of the hotel located on Thandi Sarak. Investigators also noted extremely poor sanitation conditions and the presence of cats in food preparation areas.

The inspection team faced resistance as some hotel staff attempted to assault officials, prompting immediate disciplinary action.

Deputy Director SFA Hyderabad, Dr. Asad Jahangir, confirmed the fine and stated that the hotel was required to dispose of all contaminated and expired food items immediately. He emphasized that strict action is necessary to protect public health.

The SFA warned that any repeated violations could result in harsher penalties, including closure of the hotel. Officials stressed that food establishments must adhere to hygiene standards at all times to ensure the safety of their customers.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about food safety in restaurants and hotels across Sindh. Authorities continue to conduct surprise inspections to enforce compliance with regulations and protect consumers.
