RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed 19 militants in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Orakzai district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The operation also resulted in the martyrdom of 11 Pakistan Army personnel, including two officers.
The ISPR said the operation targeted an Indian-backed militant network known as “Khawarij.” It confirmed that during a fierce gunfight, 19 militants were neutralized.
However, the clash also led to the loss of Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Arif, Major Tayyab Rahat, and nine other soldiers who embraced martyrdom while fighting bravely.
The martyred soldiers include: Naib Subedar Azam Gul from Khyber, Naik Adil Hussain from Kurram, Naik Gul Ameer from Tank, Lance Naik Sher Khan from Mardan, Lance Naik Talish Faraz from Manshera, Lance Naik Irshad Hussain from Kurram, Sepoy Tufail Khan from Malakand, Sepoy Aqib Ali from Swabi, and Sepoy Muhammad Zahid from Tank.
The ISPR stated that a clearance operation is still underway in the area to remove any remaining threats. The security forces reaffirmed their commitment to eliminate terrorism in all its forms, including those allegedly supported from across the border.
Officials emphasized that the sacrifices of Pakistan’s soldiers demonstrate the military’s firm resolve to protect national sovereignty. The statement also noted that such operations are part of ongoing efforts to maintain stability and counter external involvement in militant activities within the country.
