CCTV footage has surfaced showing a tense police encounter with armed robbers on Shaheed-e-Millat Road in Karachi. The video captures the dramatic moments when police officers engaged the suspects in a brief but intense shootout in the middle of the road.
According to initial reports, the incident took place near the Baloch Colony Bridge area. Police said a suspected robber was shot dead while two others were injured during the exchange of fire. The video shows the suspects trying to flee on a motorcycle when police open fire to stop them.
Eyewitnesses said panic spread in the area as gunshots echoed through the street. Traffic was halted, and nearby shopkeepers rushed to close their stores for safety. The robbers, reportedly involved in multiple snatching incidents, attempted to escape but were quickly surrounded by the police.
Rescue teams reached the scene shortly after the shootout. The body of the deceased suspect was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for identification. Police recovered a weapon, live ammunition, and a motorcycle from the site.
Investigators believe the group had been targeting citizens on Shaheed-e-Millat Road and adjoining areas. Authorities are now reviewing additional CCTV footage from nearby streets to track the escape route of the remaining suspects.
Law enforcement officials said they are increasing patrols in the area to prevent similar crimes. They also urged the public to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity.
The incident has once again raised concerns about rising street crimes in Karachi. Residents have demanded stronger police presence and better surveillance, particularly in busy commercial zones.
The CCTV footage has gone viral on social media, with many praising the police for their quick response, while others highlighted the need for improved citywide security measures.
