The Punjab government has approved the expansion of its School Meal Program to 10 more districts across the province, aiming to enhance student nutrition and promote regular school attendance.
Under this new phase, the initiative will be implemented in Bhakkar, Mianwali, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, Chiniot, Rahim Yar Khan, Lodhran, and Vehari. The program will provide free, nutritious meals to students from grades one to five in public schools, ensuring that children receive proper nourishment during school hours.
Officials stated that the expansion reflects the provincial government’s commitment to improving education and child welfare, particularly in underprivileged and remote areas where malnutrition and school dropouts are major challenges. By addressing these issues, the government hopes to create a more conducive learning environment and support children’s physical and mental development.
Punjab’s Education Minister added that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has also approved the establishment of new Danish Schools in Sarai Alamgir and Phool Nagar. These schools aim to provide modern, high-quality education opportunities to talented students from low-income backgrounds.
With these initiatives, the provincial government seeks to ensure that every child not only attends school regularly but also has access to proper nutrition and quality education across Punjab.
