FO Updates on Mushtaq Ahmed, Pakistanis Detained by Israel

Former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, along with other Pakistanis, has been confirmed to be in Israeli custody, though officials assured he is safe.

The development follows the interception of the Freedom Flotilla, which attempted to break the Gaza blockade. Pakistan’s Foreign Office, with the help of a European country, verified the senator’s condition and confirmed he will appear before an Israeli court soon, after which his deportation and return will be arranged.

Islamabad is actively working with international partners to secure the swift repatriation of all detained citizens. Authorities have already managed the safe return of some participants and expressed gratitude to allied nations for their assistance.

Pakistan strongly condemned Israel’s actions against the Global Sumud Flotilla, which carried activists, politicians, and humanitarian aid. The Israeli Foreign Ministry said passengers would be deported to Europe after failing to breach the blockade.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif denounced the assault as “dastardly” and demanded immediate release of detainees. The incident triggered global criticism, with countries including Malaysia, Turkiye, Colombia, the UK, and Spain condemning Israel, while protests broke out across Europe.
