Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has strongly rejected claims by Indian media that he apologized to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding the Asia Cup trophy row.
Naqvi described the reports as fabricated propaganda meant to mislead the public. He addressed the matter on his official X account, stating, “I have done nothing wrong and I have never apologized to the BCCI, nor will I ever do so.”
The controversy arose after reports claimed that Mohsin Naqvi had agreed to hand over the Asia Cup trophy and medals under certain conditions. He dismissed these claims, emphasizing that the stories were part of a plot to damage his reputation and misinform Indian audiences.
As ACC President, Naqvi clarified that he was ready to hand over the trophy on the day of the final and remains willing to do so at any time. He criticized Indian authorities for mixing politics with cricket, saying such actions harm the sport’s integrity.
“Unfortunately, India continues to drag politics into cricket, damaging the very spirit of the game,” he wrote. Naqvi also confirmed that the BCCI President is prepared to present the trophy, and he remains open to personally handing it over to the Indian captain.
Reiterating his stance, Mohsin Naqvi urged the Indian cricket team to approach the ACC office if they wish to receive the trophy. He welcomed the Indian captain to collect it directly from him, highlighting his commitment to fairness and sportsmanship.
This statement from Mohsin Naqvi clarifies his official position, counters misleading media narratives, and reinforces his dedication to maintaining cricket diplomacy while keeping politics separate from the sport.
