The city of Karachi has begun major repair work on 106 roads, with officials targeting completion within 60 days.
Mayor Murtaza Wahab inspected ongoing projects late Saturday and assured citizens that taxpayers’ money is being used exclusively for infrastructure development. He emphasized that the initiative is part of the city government’s commitment to public welfare.
The road rehabilitation project covers major thoroughfares, including Shahrah-e-Faisal, and will extend to seven additional districts across Karachi. Authorities aim to improve traffic flow and ensure safer commuting for residents.
Mayor Wahab highlighted the difference between the current administration and previous ones, saying earlier projects were often politically branded. “Our focus is solely on serving the people, not political promotions,” he stated.
The repair work includes resurfacing damaged roads, filling potholes, and strengthening the road base to prevent future deterioration. Teams are working in coordination to complete the repairs efficiently and minimize disruptions to daily traffic.
City officials added that regular inspections will monitor the quality of the work. Karachi residents can expect smoother, safer roads once the project is completed.
This initiative comes as part of Karachi’s broader plan to upgrade infrastructure and improve urban mobility. The city government has pledged to maintain these roads and implement ongoing maintenance programs to ensure long-term benefits for commuters.
The rehabilitation of 106 roads is considered one of the largest road projects in Karachi in recent years. Officials said the project reflects the administration’s dedication to improving living conditions and addressing long-standing infrastructure challenges in the city.
