Taliban Bans Afghan Women from Male Dental Treatment

The Taliban authorities in Afghanistan have introduced yet another restriction on women, this time prohibiting them from receiving dental treatment from male dentists.

According to local reports, officials in Kandahar visited several dental clinics and ordered female patients to leave immediately. They further instructed clinic owners and staff that male dentists are not permitted to treat women under any circumstances. This directive has sparked fresh concerns about the growing list of limitations placed on Afghan women.

The new restriction follows recent nationwide bans on romantic poetry and gatherings of poets without official approval. These actions highlight the Taliban’s continued efforts to tighten control over public and private life.

Since taking power after the US withdrawal in August 2021, the Taliban have imposed sweeping curbs on women’s freedoms. Women have been barred from most jobs, denied secondary and higher education, and banned from working with foreign NGOs. They are also prohibited from visiting parks, gyms, and sports facilities, while female athletes remain excluded from international competitions.

This latest order adds to the mounting restrictions, further isolating Afghan women from basic services and daily life.ad
