New Hajj Policy Allows Relatives To Travel For Deceased Or Ill Pilgrims

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced a new Hajj Policy for registered pilgrims who cannot travel due to illness or death. The updated rules are designed to provide relief to families while ensuring that pilgrimage slots are not wasted.

According to the policy, if a registered pilgrim passes away before the journey, a close relative will be allowed to perform Hajj in their place. This change ensures that the spiritual wish of the family is fulfilled and the allocated spot is utilized.

The Hajj Policy also provides options for those unable to travel due to unavoidable medical or personal reasons. Such pilgrims may either withdraw their deposited funds or nominate a family member to perform the pilgrimage on their behalf.

However, ministry officials clarified that proper documentation must be provided before applying for a refund or replacement. This step is aimed at maintaining transparency and preventing misuse of the facility.

The required documents include:

A valid medical certificate or death certificate of the original pilgrim.

An affidavit on stamp paper explaining the reason for not traveling.

A copy of the bank receipt confirming payment.

A copy of the applicant or nominee’s identity card.

Authorities emphasized that all applications will be carefully reviewed before approval. The ministry highlighted that this revised Hajj Policy was created to ease hardships faced by families while maintaining fairness in the pilgrimage system.

Federal officials also assured that the new measures will help streamline the process and ensure that deserving pilgrims do not lose their chance. By allowing relatives to step in, the government hopes to balance compassion with proper regulation.

The introduction of this updated Hajj Policy reflects the ministry’s commitment to improving the management of one of the most significant religious journeys for Muslims worldwide.
