The ISPR DG has strongly rejected claims of any separatist movement in Pakistan, stressing that the violence in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is not political dissent but terrorism.
In an interview with a German magazine, ISPR DG Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry blamed India for backing militant groups through Afghan soil. He described BLA as “Fitna-ul-Hindustan” and TTP as “Fitna-ul-Khawarij,” calling both organizations tools of Indian policy.
He emphasized that no separatist movement exists in Pakistan. Instead, he argued that groups operating against the state are foreign-backed terrorists. He also said that some individuals killed in counterterrorism actions were falsely portrayed as missing persons.
The military spokesperson stated that only the state has the authority to declare jihad. “No non-state actor can claim such a right,” he remarked.
Highlighting regional threats, the ISPR DG warned that India manipulates narratives, presenting internal violence as political unrest. He added that Pakistan has shared evidence of Indian involvement with the international community, including the United Nations.
He further said American weapons left behind in Afghanistan are now being used in terror attacks. Washington itself has raised concerns, while the banned Majeed Brigade was recently declared a global terrorist outfit.
Lt Gen Chaudhry also reaffirmed Pakistan’s long-standing sacrifices in the war on terror. He pointed to the Kashmir dispute as unresolved and urged the global community to step in. He described China as a close and reliable partner for Pakistan.
On Afghan refugees, he noted credible evidence of illegal residents’ links with terrorism and serious crimes. He stressed that the original reasons for their asylum no longer exist.
Concluding, the ISPR DG said India’s growing extremism under Prime Minister Modi poses grave risks for peace and stability across South Asia.
