Lahore Prepares for Heavy Showers as 11th Monsoon Spell Hits Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast more showers in Lahore as the eleventh monsoon spell continues across the country. Despite rainfall a day earlier, the city remains hot and humid, with the temperature standing at 29°C in the morning and expected to rise to 33°C later in the day. Humidity has reached 77%, while winds are blowing at a light speed of 5 km/h.

While much of the country is experiencing hot and dry conditions, scattered rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms were reported in some areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Kashmir. Lahore recorded varying rainfall levels, with Upper Mall receiving 30mm, Jail Road 11mm, and several other localities between 1mm and 10mm. Gujranwala saw 5mm, while Chakwal reported 1mm.

In Islamabad, Saidpur registered 28mm and Murree 9mm. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded lighter showers, including 5mm in Kakul and smaller amounts in Balakot, Lower Dir, Drosh, and Pattan. Muzaffarabad city in Azad Kashmir received 5mm, while the airport logged 4mm and Rawalakot 3mm.

According to the Met Office, weak moist currents from the Arabian Sea are affecting northern regions, combined with a westerly wave over upper areas, likely to persist for another 24 hours.
