Five soldiers were martyred in Balochistan on Monday after a landmine exploded near a security forces vehicle in Sherbandi, Kech district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed. The blast occurred during a clearance operation aimed at removing terrorist hideouts from the area.
According to ISPR, five Indian-backed terrorists were also killed during the operation. The martyred soldiers include Captain Waqar Ahmad, Naik Asmatullah, Lance Naik Junaid Ahmad, Lance Naik Khan Muhammad, and Sepoy Muhammad Zahoor. Their sacrifices have been praised as a testament to the dedication of Pakistan’s armed forces.
A sanitization operation is currently underway to eliminate any remaining terrorist elements in the area. ISPR stated that these operations strengthen the military’s resolve to combat terrorism and safeguard the nation. “Security forces are determined to work hand in hand with the nation to eliminate Indian-sponsored terrorism,” the statement added.
This incident comes amid a series of counter-terrorism operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where at least 19 soldiers lost their lives over the past week while eliminating 35 terrorists linked to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Operations in Bajaur and South Waziristan successfully neutralized numerous militants and recovered weapons and ammunition. Intelligence reports suggest the involvement of Afghan nationals in these attacks.
The Balochistan landmine blast highlights the ongoing threats faced by Pakistan’s security forces in their fight against terrorism. Authorities continue to maintain high vigilance and carry out intelligence-based operations to ensure the safety of citizens and maintain peace in the region.
ISPR emphasized that Pakistan’s armed forces remain committed to protecting the country from terrorism while honoring the sacrifices of their brave personnel in Balochistan and across Pakistan.
