The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has retrieved land valued at Rs. 424.47 million from illegal occupants. Officials confirmed that boundary walls will be built to protect these sites for future projects.
According to RDA Estate Management Director Shahzad Gondal, the recovery was conducted on the instructions of RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza. The reclaimed plots are located in Committee Chowk, Saidpur, and Civil Lines housing schemes.
Details shared by officials show that the recovered land included one kanal and 10 marlas in Civil Lines, another two kanals and 18 marlas also in Civil Lines, nine marlas of commercial land in Committee Chowk, and 11.4 marlas in Saidpur Housing Scheme. Gondal added that a complete survey of state land will be finalized within two weeks. Once completed, a detailed report will be issued.
During the same operation, the RDA sealed one plaza and six shops on Chakri Road. Several encroachments along G.T. Road were also removed as part of the wider crackdown.
DG Kinza Murtaza highlighted that the drive against encroachments reflects Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s zero-tolerance policy on illegal construction. She noted that FIRs will be registered against violators, and strict action will follow.
The RDA has also pledged to continue operations to curb land grabbing and ensure urban development. Officials stressed that safeguarding state land is essential for planned growth in Rawalpindi.
By taking these measures, the RDA aims to protect public resources, stop illegal construction, and ensure that land reserved for development is used properly.
