Pakistan Records 7% Growth in Petroleum Sales During August

Pakistan’s petroleum product sales increased 7% year-on-year to 1.3 million tons in August, driven by higher industrial demand and reduced fuel smuggling from Iran, industry data showed. Month-on-month sales also rose 6%, supported by lower fuel prices.

Total sales for the first two months of FY26 reached 2.5 million tons, up 5% from last year. Excluding furnace oil, August sales rose 11% year-on-year to 1.28 million tons, while two-month sales climbed 10% to 2.48 million tons.

Falling prices boosted demand, with petrol dropping PKR 7.54/liter to PKR 264.61 and high-speed diesel (HSD) down PKR 11.36/liter to PKR 272.99. Petrol sales surged 8% to 675,000 tons, and HSD jumped 14% to 522,000 tons.

Furnace oil sales plunged 71% year-on-year to 19,000 tons but rose 21% month-on-month.

Among companies, PSO led with 547,000 tons sold, marking a 4% annual rise and boosting its market share above 42%. Attock Petroleum sold 112,000 tons, Wafi Energy 107,000 tons, and Hascol 42,000 tons.

Analysts expect oil sales to grow 7–10% in FY26 on stronger demand and stable prices.
