CDA Greenlights Major Overhaul of Islamabad’s Emergency Services

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved an extensive plan to modernize emergency services in Islamabad, focusing on disaster preparedness and public safety. The decision came during the 15th CDA Board meeting on Wednesday.

As part of the plan, a state-of-the-art Emergency Operations Center will be established for real-time monitoring and coordination. Twelve new rescue stations will be set up across the city, along with a motorbike rescue unit comprising 50 bikes to improve access in crowded areas.

The board also sanctioned recruitment for vacant posts, specialized training for staff, and procurement of advanced rescue vehicles, water rescue vans, and other equipment, with technical support from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). Approval was also granted for finalizing the Capital Emergency Service Regulations.

Additionally, the CDA authorized hiring a consultant to assist Islamabad in accessing international carbon credit mechanisms, promoting efforts in afforestation, forest protection, and pollution control.
