Punjab Expands Electric Bus Network to Layyah

The Punjab government has continued expanding its green public transportation network by extending its electric bus initiative to more districts under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Green Mobility vision.

As part of the latest phase, 10 modern electric buses have arrived in Layyah, while five additional buses are expected to join the fleet in the coming weeks.

Officials said the new buses will provide residents with safe, comfortable, and environmentally friendly public transportation while improving access to affordable commuting options.

The expansion follows the recent launch of the electric bus initiative in Narowal, where 11 electric buses are set to operate on six routes with a fare of Rs20 per trip.

The Punjab government has been steadily expanding its electric bus network as part of its broader strategy to modernize public transport, promote sustainable mobility, reduce carbon emissions, and improve travel facilities across the province.

Officials said additional districts are expected to benefit from the Green Mobility initiative as the government continues investing in eco-friendly transportation infrastructure.
