Pakistan’s top telecom companies, Jazz and Zong, have announced free calls to all networks and PTCL for customers in Punjab’s flood-affected areas.
Recent heavy rains and river overflows devastated cities like Narowal, Kartarpur, Sialkot, Wazirabad, Gujrat, Bahawalnagar, Gujranwala, Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, and Sahiwal, damaging homes and infrastructure. The free call service aims to ease communication for residents prioritizing safety and recovery.
Jazz has also teamed up with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to run a mobile-based Early Warning System, which has issued over 200 million alerts nationwide, including evacuation notices along the Chenab River.
Zong introduced a relief package with 30 free on-net minutes and SMS for people in the worst-hit areas, ensuring families stay connected and can reach emergency services. Both companies reaffirmed their commitment to supporting flood-affected communities with immediate relief and long-term assistance.
