Tremors of an earthquake were felt on Sunday in Peshawar, Swat, Swabi, and several adjoining areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, sparking panic among residents. People rushed out of their homes, offices, and shops in fear as the shocks continued for several seconds.
According to initial media reports, no loss of life or property damage has been reported so far from any affected region. Authorities confirmed that seismic activity was recorded but the intensity and epicenter are yet to be officially shared by the Meteorological Department.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and provincial rescue teams have been placed on high alert to respond in case of emergencies. Citizens have been advised to remain calm but vigilant, as aftershocks may follow.
While panic gripped parts of Peshawar and Swat, daily activities resumed shortly after the tremors, though many residents expressed concern over increasing frequency of earthquakes in the region. Emergency control rooms have been activated, and officials assured that precautionary measures are in place to ensure public safety.
