Public and private schools across Punjab reopened on Monday for Matric, Intermediate, O Level, and A Level students following the summer vacation
Students from higher classes returned to school after the extended break, while junior classes from Grade 1 to 8 are scheduled to resume from September 1, 2025.
Punjab Education Minister Sikandar Hayat had previously announced that the summer holidays would continue until September for all classes. However, the decision was revised, and senior classes were instructed to reopen from August 18 instead.
According to the minister, the move came after discussions with education experts, who highlighted that prolonged holidays for senior students could disrupt the academic schedule and delay the curriculum. The reopening aims to ensure that board and international exam preparations remain on track.
This year, the summer vacation period was extended due to concerns over intense heat and humidity, with authorities prioritizing the safety and well-being of students. Despite the precautionary measure, the revised plan seeks to balance health considerations with the need to maintain the academic timeline for higher-grade students.
First, there was an order for all grades to be opened from 1st September, but few days back Punjab Orders Reopening of Schools and Colleges
