Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a special session on Friday to review progress on clean drinking water initiatives. The meeting focused on water filtration plants and key development projects across Punjab.
Officials presented updates on several projects, including the Model Village Project and the Lahore Development Project. A major part of the discussion centered on installing water treatment plants in remote areas. Maryam Nawaz set a strict deadline for the completion of these plants by June 30, 2026. She stressed the need to create a regular system for their construction, repair, and long-term maintenance.
The chief minister emphasized that ensuring safe drinking water for all citizens must remain a top priority for Punjab’s government. She also reviewed road and street development work under the Lahore Development Project. Expressing concern over delays in some schemes, she directed officials to accelerate work and meet deadlines.
Updates were also shared on 122 beautification projects underway across Punjab’s various divisions. These projects include 51 in Lahore, 64 in Rawalpindi, 37 in Faisalabad, 75 in Multan, 45 in Sargodha, and others in Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Gujrat, and Sahiwal. Maryam Nawaz instructed that all these projects be completed on time without compromising quality standards.
This session highlights Punjab’s commitment to improving infrastructure and public health services. The government aims to provide clean drinking water, especially in remote regions, while pushing forward other development projects.
