Pakistani Forces Down Indian Spy Drone in Lahore

Pakistani security forces have shot down an Indian spy drone spotted near the Manawan area on Lahore’s outskirts, police reported.

The unmanned aircraft was detected violating Pakistani airspace, prompting a quick response from security personnel who intercepted and downed it before it could return.

Preliminary checks indicate the drone was used for surveillance, as no weapons or explosives were found onboard. Intelligence agencies have taken custody of the device for detailed technical analysis to trace its route, origin, and purpose.

The incident has renewed concerns over repeated airspace breaches, highlighting the importance of increased vigilance to maintain regional stability.

This comes months after tensions flared in May 2025, when India accused Pakistan of involvement in an attack on tourists in occupied Jammu and Kashmir — an allegation Islamabad denied, calling for a transparent investigation.

Following India’s military strikes, Pakistan launched “Operation Bunyanun Marsoos,” downing six Indian fighter jets and dozens of drones.

The conflict eventually eased after U.S. President Donald Trump mediated between the two nations, an effort Pakistan praised and for which it even nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
