NEPRA Approves Rs1.89 per Unit Reduction in Electricity Tariff

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a reduction of Rs1.89 per unit in electricity tariffs for consumers nationwide, as part of the quarterly adjustment for April to June 2025.

This tariff cut, expected to provide relief worth Rs55.87 billion, will be applicable to consumers across the country, including those under K-Electric. However, lifeline users and pre-paid meter customers will not benefit from this reduction

The revised rates will be implemented from August to October 2025, pending final approval from the federal government.

The move follows requests from power distribution companies seeking tariff relief through the quarterly adjustment mechanism. NEPRA held a public hearing on August 4 before granting the approval.

These quarterly adjustments are separate from the monthly fuel cost changes and are intended to balance expenses related to power generation and capacity charges.
