As Lahore braces for its annual smog season, the Punjab government has launched a major initiative to combat air pollution. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced the arrival of 15 state-of-the-art Anti-Smog Guns in the city.

With this move, Punjab becomes the first province in Pakistan to introduce an advanced dust control system. Known as “fog cannons,” these machines emit a fine mist of water into the air to capture harmful particles like PM2.5 and PM10, which contribute to severe health issues each year.

Using precise targeting, the system captures airborne toxins and pulls them to the ground, effectively purifying the air before it reaches people’s lungs.

Backed by drone surveillance and satellite monitoring, the government is taking strong steps to tackle the smog crisis head-on.

Calling it a breakthrough in environmental action, CM Maryam Nawaz stated on X: “With determination, innovation, and public support, we will defeat smog, Insha’Allah.”

These anti-smog machines will be stationed across Lahore and integrated with Punjab’s real-time air quality monitoring system and the Environment Protection Force. The system will automatically activate in high-pollution zones, using satellite data, drones, QR-coded kilns, and AI-powered tracking—marking a major advancement in tackling environmental pollution.
