The Punjab government has declared all public parks in the province as smoke-free zones, according to a formal notice issued by the Housing Department under Secretary Housing Noor-ul-Amin Mengal.

The order enforces Sections 5 and 7 of the Prohibition of Smoking Ordinance 2002, banning smoking and the sale of cigarettes, vapes, and e-cigarettes in all parks. Vendors, cafes, and tuck shops within park premises are now prohibited from selling tobacco products.

To implement this rule effectively, “No Smoking” signs will be displayed, and park staff have been directed to monitor and enforce the ban to maintain a healthy atmosphere for families and children.

This step aims to ensure a cleaner, healthier environment in recreational spaces across Punjab.

Meanwhile, Punjab has also introduced a Counter Narcotics Force at a launch event in Lahore. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stressed the importance of tackling drug abuse and pledged zero tolerance for drug peddlers. During the ceremony, she inspected the parade and handed over the official flag to a force representative, marking the beginning of a province-wide anti-drug initiative.
