ISLAMABAD – A major police operation took place at Quaid-e-Azam University on Monday night. Over 50 students were arrested during a late-night raid on multiple university hostels.
Sources confirmed that Islamabad Police carried out the raid on the request of the Quaid-e-Azam University administration. The targeted hostels included Hostels 6, 8, 9, and 11. All were completely evacuated during the operation.
According to police sources, approximately 55 to 60 students were detained during the action. After the arrests, the students were transported to the Secretariat Police Station. The raid reportedly ended once the targeted individuals were taken into custody.
So far, the reasons behind the arrests have not been officially disclosed. However, the operation has raised concerns among students and civil society regarding the use of police force on a university campus.
No reports of resistance or violence were shared, but social media users have begun questioning the sudden nature of the raid. Videos and photos from the scene show police officers entering hostel buildings late at night, with students being escorted out.
This is not the first time Quaid-e-Azam University has faced unrest. The institution has seen several incidents involving student groups and administrative clashes in the past. Many have called for better communication between the university and students to avoid similar events in the future.
As of now, the Quaid-e-Azam University administration and Islamabad Police have not issued detailed statements regarding the incident. Parents and students alike are waiting for clarity on the reasons for the arrests and the status of those detained.
The situation is developing, and updates are expected following further investigation and possible court proceedings.
