China Targets AI-Driven Healthcare and Technology Projects in Pakistan

Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, met with a prominent Chinese delegation during the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai to explore cooperation in AI skill development, smart city technologies, and medical innovation.

Key topics included the creation of an AI skill exchange program for Pakistani youth, collaboration with the National IT Board on digital governance, and promoting joint ventures between Chinese firms and Pakistani startups in health tech, edtech, and fintech sectors.

The delegation also showed interest in introducing smart maintenance equipment and AI-powered applications in Pakistan, alongside enhancing research in AI-based Chinese medicine targeting chronic and neurological conditions.

Minister Shaza Fatima welcomed the proposals and reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to utilizing emerging technologies for national advancement. She assured the Chinese delegation of the Ministry’s full support in encouraging cross-border collaborations aimed at innovation, digital growth, and inclusive development.

The visiting delegation included Cheng Dong, senior member of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese; Liu Yuangui, VP of Shenlan Technology; Professor Zhao Shanting, a German-trained medical expert; and Dr. He Bin, his assistant and fellow German PhD.
