According to an official circular, the directorate noticed that some employees were reporting to work in casual outfits. The notice specifically mentioned male staff wearing T-shirts, jeans, tight-fitting clothes, slippers, and fancy sunglasses. Officials said such clothing does not reflect the professionalism expected from employees in government colleges.
The new instructions apply to all government colleges under the Directorate of College Education in Karachi. Principals have been directed to share the circular with their staff and ensure that the guidelines are followed without exception.
Male teaching staff, especially those posted at government girls’ colleges, have been advised to wear decent and formal clothing. The circular recommends a full-sleeved shirt with formal trousers or a traditional shalwar kameez. Teachers have also been encouraged to wear an academic gown with formal shoes while delivering lectures.
Female teaching staff have also received dress code guidelines. They have been asked to wear modest, professional, and respectful attire that reflects the dignity of the teaching profession.
