The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced that the Safar moon was not sighted anywhere in Pakistan, and therefore, the first day of Safar 1447 AH will be observed on Sunday.
The announcement followed a meeting chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad at the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Islamabad. During the session, no verified moon sighting reports were received from across the country.
As a result, it was officially declared that Saturday will be the 30th of Muharram, and Sunday, July 27, will be 1st Safar. A formal notification has been issued.
It’s notable that astronomers had also forecasted the moon would not be visible on the day.
