A recent survey by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan found that nearly half of the population bought used clothes in the past year. According to the poll, 48% of respondents said they purchased second-hand items such as sweaters and coats.

These clothes were mainly bought from local Landa Bazaars, which are known for selling imported garments at low prices. The survey highlights the growing demand for second-hand clothes, especially in colder months when warm clothing becomes essential.

Gallup & Gilani Pakistan is affiliated with the Gallup International Association. The organization stated that the data shows how affordability and need often drive people’s clothing choices in Pakistan.

Experts say that second-hand markets have long served as a practical option for families. These markets help people manage daily expenses without sacrificing basic needs like clothing. With rising inflation and high retail prices, many Pakistanis turn to Landa Bazaars to find good-quality clothes at budget-friendly rates.

The popularity of second-hand clothes is not limited to low-income groups. Middle-class families also shop at these markets, looking for value and variety. Some shoppers even search for branded or imported items that cost far less than new ones in stores.

Economists believe that this trend reflects broader changes in spending habits. As household budgets tighten, people are making more careful choices about where and how they buy clothing.

Clothing vendors also benefit from the demand. Many rely on bulk imports of used clothes to run their businesses. These vendors supply everything from daily wear to winter jackets and school uniforms.

In summary, used clothes play a vital role in Pakistan’s retail economy. They offer an affordable solution for millions facing financial pressure and remain a key resource for practical fashion.
