A case filed against Salman Farooqi for allegedly assaulting a young man in Karachi’s Defence area has been officially dropped, according to a report submitted by Gizri police to the Judicial Magistrate South.

During a recent court hearing, police informed the magistrate that the complainant, Dheeraj alias Dhanraj, no longer wished to pursue legal action. A written statement from Dheeraj was presented, declaring that neither he nor his sisters were harmed by Farooqi and that he had no intention of continuing with the case.

As per the police report, the charges related to threats and physical assault were dismissed based on the complainant’s affidavit. The court accepted the police report and included it in the case record before adjourning the hearing.

The case had drawn significant public attention last month after a video circulated widely on social media. The footage allegedly showed Salman Farooqi attacking a motorcyclist following a road accident in Khayaban-e-Ittehad. Farooqi was seen hitting the young man despite protests from the victim’s sisters, who were present at the scene.

Following the video’s viral spread and public outcry, police had registered a case against both Salman Farooqi and his associate, Awais Hashmi. Farooqi was subsequently arrested.

However, with the victim retracting his accusations and denying any wrongdoing by the accused, the case has now been closed. The police submitted all necessary documents to the court, confirming that the complainant was not pressured and willingly decided to withdraw the charges.

This decision effectively ends the legal proceedings against Salman Farooqi regarding the incident, despite the initial outrage and media coverage that followed the release of the assault footage.
