Karachi – July 14, 2025:
The President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Javed Balwani, has said that it is the government’s responsibility to decide whether the finance minister should continue in office or be replaced.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi on Monday, Balwani addressed rising concerns from the business community and the public. He stated that if people are unhappy with the finance minister’s performance, then the government must find a solution.

He emphasized that the national budget is not unchangeable. “The budget is not something that comes from the sky — it can be withdrawn,” Balwani said. He added that the KCCI is ready to negotiate with the government to resolve concerns.

Balwani stressed the need for open communication between policymakers and business leaders. He said the business community is willing to work together with the government to address economic challenges.

According to him, the finance minister holds a critical position that directly affects trade, investment, and industrial growth. Balwani urged the authorities to consider feedback from business stakeholders when making decisions about the country’s economic direction.

He reiterated that the KCCI remains open to dialogue and wants to see positive outcomes for the economy. “We want policy stability and a budget that supports growth,” he said.

In recent weeks, public debate has grown around the finance minister’s role, particularly in response to budgetary policies and taxation issues. Despite the concerns, the government has not announced any decision regarding a replacement.

The KCCI president’s comments highlight the business community’s desire for practical solutions through discussion rather than confrontation. While no changes have been confirmed, the pressure for action appears to be increasing.

KCCI President Javed Balwani has urged the government to decide whether to retain the finance minister, as public dissatisfaction grows. This comes as the Finance Minister Plays Down Economic Impact of Military Escalation with India, raising further debate over his handling of key national issues.
