PM Shehbaz chaired a key meeting to review reforms at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). He unveiled Pakistan’s first AI-based customs clearance and risk management system.
The new system uses artificial intelligence to speed up customs processes. It estimates the value and type of goods during import and export automatically. This helps reduce delays and improve transparency.
Officials told PM Shehbaz that the system’s early tests showed a 92% increase in efficiency. It also improved tax collection by accurately assessing 83% of goods declarations.
PM Shehbaz said this AI system will reduce human intervention in customs work. It will lower costs and make the process easier for businesses and taxpayers.
The Prime Minister stressed that reforms at FBR are a top priority for the government. He urged that the system be sustainable and scalable for future growth.
The meeting also covered AI use in the manufacturing sector to improve tax collection. Video analytics monitoring showed 98% accuracy and requires less human involvement.
PM Shehbaz’s vision is to make Pakistan’s tax and customs system more transparent and efficient. This AI-driven reform aims to boost business and government revenue.
Overall, the new AI-based customs system marks a major step toward modernizing Pakistan’s trade and tax infrastructure under PM Shehbaz’s leadership.
