The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named Sanjog Gupta as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He will take office on July 7, 2025.

Gupta becomes the seventh person to hold this top position at the ICC. He replaces Geoff Allardice, who stepped down earlier this year.

Before joining the ICC, Sanjog Gupta served as CEO of Sports & Live Experiences at JioStar, a leading sports media company. He played a key role in broadcasting major cricket events and growing sports viewership in India.

His appointment followed a global recruitment process. The ICC received over 2,500 applications from 25 countries. A selection panel shortlisted 12 candidates before choosing Gupta.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah said Gupta’s experience in sports strategy and fan engagement will help the organization grow the game worldwide.

In his first statement, Gupta said it is an honor to lead the ICC at such an exciting time. He highlighted the rise of women’s cricket, growing fan bases, and cricket’s inclusion in the 2028 Olympic Games as major opportunities.

Gupta aims to improve the global reach of cricket, strengthen commercial partnerships, and make better use of technology in the sport.

The ICC hopes that Gupta’s leadership will help expand the game beyond its traditional markets while deepening connections in core regions.
