Pakistan Observes Youm-e-Ashur with Religious Devotion and Tight Security

Pakistan is observing Youm-e-Ashur today, the 10th of Muharram, with deep religious reverence and strict security arrangements across the country. The day marks the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala.

Massive mourning processions are taking place in major cities including Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad. These processions pay tribute to Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), who stood against oppression and sacrificed his life for justice.

Shiite Muslims are participating in traditional rituals such as Matam, reciting Marsiyas, and attending Majalis. These acts of mourning reflect their devotion and connection to the message of Karbala.

To ensure peace on Youm-e-Ashur, authorities have enforced strict security measures. Police, Rangers, and Pakistan Army personnel are deployed in sensitive areas to assist local law enforcement. Mobile phone and internet services have been suspended in many urban areas as part of the security plan.

In Karachi, the main Youm-e-Ashur procession began at Nishtar Park after overnight Majalis. It is proceeding along the traditional route and is expected to conclude at Bargah Hussainian Iranian in Kharadar.

Lahore’s central procession started from Nisar Haveli at Mochi Gate and is making its way to Karbala Gamay Shah. The observance will end with Sham-e-Ghareeban, a solemn night of mourning.

National leaders released special messages on the occasion, honoring Hazrat Imam Hussain’s (RA) legacy of sacrifice and courage. They urged the public to uphold peace and unity on this significant day.

Youm-e-Ashur remains one of the most sacred days in the Islamic calendar, reminding Muslims of the timeless struggle for truth and righteousness.

For Security purposes, Mobile Phone Services will be suspended in Peshawar During Muharram
