ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that monsoon rains are likely to begin across the country from tonight, June 24, as moist currents are entering the upper and central regions and are expected to strengthen in the coming days.
A westerly wave is likely to approach northern areas on June 25, becoming more prominent by June 26.

Under these weather conditions, rain with wind and thunderstorms—along with scattered heavy to very heavy falls—is expected in Kashmir (Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, and surrounding areas) from June 24 (evening/night) till July 2, with occasional breaks.
Gilgit-Baltistan (including Diamir, Skardu, Hunza, and other areas) is also expected to receive rain with thunderstorms from June 26 to June 29.
For Punjab, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, and other cities, rain with thunderstorms and scattered heavy falls is expected from June 25 to July 1.
Rain is also forecast for Bahawalpur, Multan, D.G. Khan, and other parts of South Punjab from June 26 to June 28.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, various districts are likely to see rain with thunderstorms and heavy falls from June 25 to July 1.
Parts of northeastern and southern Balochistan (including Loralai, Khuzdar, Lasbella, and others) may experience rain with thunderstorms between June 25 (night) and June 28.
Upper and southeastern Sindh (including Sukkur, Karachi, Hyderabad, and others) are expected to receive rain from June 25 to June 28, with breaks in between.
The Met Office warned that heavy rains could trigger flash floods in local streams and nullahs in Murree, Galliyat, parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab, D.G. Khan, and Kashmir from June 26 to July 1.
Travelers and tourists have been advised to stay alert, plan accordingly, and avoid risky travel during the wet spell.
