Pre-Monsoon Rains Set to Begin Across Punjab, Says PDMA

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather alert for Punjab, announcing the onset of pre-monsoon rains starting this evening. The alert comes as several regions in the province brace for rain, dust storms, and strong winds.

According to a PDMA spokesperson, the weather system is expected to impact a wide range of districts, with the wet spell likely to continue until June 23. Northern and central areas including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, Jhelum, and Gujranwala are expected to experience significant rainfall.

The forecast also covers major urban centers such as Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Sargodha, Jhang, and Mianwali. In southern Punjab, rain is predicted between June 21 and 23 in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Bahawalnagar.

PDMA Director General Irfan Kathia noted that the incoming rains are expected to provide much-needed relief by easing the severity of the ongoing heatwave and bringing down high temperatures across the province.
