Escaped Prisoner from Malir Jailbreak Found Commits Suicide

A 25-year-old prisoner who escaped during the recent Malir jailbreak died by suicide after being found hanging at his sister’s home in Madni Colony, Mauripur. Police moved the body to Civil Hospital for legal procedures.

According to Mauripur SHO Sardar Ali Abbasi, the prisoner, identified as Raza, was alone when he took his life. A video statement recorded by Raza before his death revealed the emotional distress faced by some inmates. He claimed innocence in a 2025 narcotics case filed at Eidgah police station and described the chaos during the jailbreak.

Over 200 inmates escaped between Tuesday and Wednesday night, with 126 recaptured in a police operation. Raza’s suicide has raised concerns about the mental health of escapees and exposed serious flaws in prison management.
