A city already plagued by rampant gunpoint robberies is now facing a disturbing new trend—the theft of sacrificial animals ahead of Eidul Azha. The Islamic festival, where Muslims honor the tradition of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) by sacrificing animals, is being overshadowed by rising criminal activity.

With the soaring prices of sacrificial animals, robbers see them as lucrative targets. A single bull worth over two million rupees can be stolen and sold illegally without any documentation.

In a recent incident, armed robbers on motorcycles hijacked two cows along with the vehicles transporting them near the Northern Bypass cattle market. Enraged drivers blocked the road in protest, accusing police of negligence. They claimed a police patrol was present but refused to intervene, citing jurisdictional limits.
