According to the Seismic Monitoring Centre of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the recent quake registered a magnitude of 3.1 on the Richter scale, with a depth of 80 kilometers. The epicentre was approximately 10 kilometers east of Malir.

The tremors were particularly felt in Quaidabad, Shah Latif Colony, and Cattle Colony — areas that have repeatedly reported seismic activity since Sunday evening. Although no casualties or structural damage have been reported so far, the continuous shaking has left many residents anxious.

Previously, Karachi’s Early Tsunami Warning Centre confirmed that a total of 19 tremors were recorded since Sunday night — an unprecedented series of quakes in the city’s history. The strongest measured 3.6 in magnitude, while the weakest was 2.1.

Experts believe the ongoing seismic activity is caused by tectonic plate shifts, resulting in the release of built-up underground energy.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged citizens to remain calm and follow standard safety precautions.
