Punjab Police Conduct Drone-Assisted Operation Against Criminals in Rahim Yar Khan’s Kacha Area
Punjab Police launched an intelligence-driven targeted operation against notorious criminals hiding in the challenging terrain of the Kacha area in Rahim Yar Khan. Utilizing advanced weaponry and drones, the police successfully disrupted several gang hideouts.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, the operation was based on actionable intelligence aimed at dismantling entrenched criminal networks that have long operated in the region. Drones played a crucial role in locating these hideouts and executing precise strikes, injuring multiple gang members and destroying their strongholds.
District Police Officer (DPO) Rahim Yar Khan confirmed that these intelligence-based operations will persist until the area is fully cleared of criminal elements, signaling a sustained crackdown on crime in the region.
Modernizing Crime Control with Drone Technology
This operation aligns with Punjab Police’s broader strategy to modernize law enforcement tactics, especially in remote and difficult-to-access areas like Kacha. In September 2024, Punjab Police revealed plans to procure heavy-duty drones equipped with the capability to carry and deploy 60mm mortar shells, alongside real-time high-resolution surveillance cameras.
A budget of Rs. 35 million has been allocated for acquiring 25 such drones, with the project summary submitted to the Federal Ministry of Interior for approval. Following receipt of the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC), the tender process will commence.
This advancement marks a significant shift towards technology-driven policing to enhance security and law enforcement efficiency across Punjab’s challenging terrains.
