The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has dismissed rumors that currency notes with pen marks or handwriting will be banned starting July 1, 2025.
A central bank spokesperson called the circulating reports false and misleading, confirming that SBP has not issued any such directive.

The clarification came in response to a fake notification spreading on social media, falsely claiming that marked notes would become invalid in the 2025-26 fiscal year.
The spokesperson emphasized that currency notes are a national asset and should be treated responsibly, but firmly denied any plans to prohibit the use of notes with pen marks.
