The clarification came in response to a fake notification spreading on social media, falsely claiming that marked notes would become invalid in the 2025-26 fiscal year.

The spokesperson emphasized that currency notes are a national asset and should be treated responsibly, but firmly denied any plans to prohibit the use of notes with pen marks.
