Pakistani politician Imran Khan has spent nearly two years in prison, with his family consistently raising concerns about his condition and the challenges faced by his sidelined party following the May 9 unrest.
Now, for the first time, Khan’s sons, Suleman and Qasim Khan—who have mostly stayed out of the spotlight—have stepped forward in a rare interview, detailing their father’s ordeal. They expressed alarm over his prolonged detention and harsh treatment, urging the international community to take notice and apply pressure on Pakistani authorities.

Qasim stated the family had exhausted all legal avenues. “We’ve pursued every formal route, but the situation only worsens. We never imagined he’d be jailed for this long,” he said. “Now, we feel the only option left is to speak publicly and seek global support.”
He accused the authorities of holding Khan under “inhumane conditions” and denying him basic rights. “There hasn’t been enough action. That’s why we’re appealing for international pressure — everything else has failed,” he added.
Though a court allowed the brothers to speak with their father once a week from November 2023, they claim those conversations are frequently blocked or disrupted.
Suleman echoed his brother’s concerns, saying, “We’ve followed the legal process, but it’s led nowhere. International media barely covers his case, and that silence is deeply troubling.”
